Bringing clean
energy to Kirkland

Clean, renewable energy that reduces harmful emissions that are affecting the health of New Yorkers.

About the Projects

The RIC Limberlost Solar Projects are two collocated projects that are proposed to be located opposite one another on Limberlost Road in Kirkland, New York. The Projects are in the development stage as we work to complete the engineering design layout.

The Projects will generate clean, renewable energy and reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions that are affecting the health of New Yorkers. They will create jobs, bring millions of dollars in investment to local communities, conserve area flora and fauna, and provide a diversified source of income for landowners in the community who are leasing their own property, enabling them to maintain their land for future generations.

In collaboration with state and federal resources, our team of environmental experts have confirmed that the project sites we are developing are not located within high value biodiversity areas or wildlife corridors that are critical for species to adapt and respond to climate change. Through careful consideration of design, we have ensured that all impacts to natural resources identified on site have been avoided to the maximum extent. We have been developing the sites in a phased approach, working closely with the Town of Kirkland and going through the local permitting processes.

Why Solar?

Lower Energy Costs

Solar power is a reliable, emissions-free energy source that strengthens America’s energy mix and helps lower energy costs. Its clean, passive technology makes it an ideal solution for the U.S.

Thoughtful Design

Solar farms are quiet, low-impact neighbors. With thoughtful design, they remain out of sight and sound for nearby residents. Long-term land management plans can also boost biodiversity, supporting local wildlife.

Economic Benefits

Beyond environmental benefits, solar farms contribute to rural economies—creating jobs, generating significant local revenue, and providing stable, supplemental income for landowners. With multimillion-dollar operations budgets spent primarily within the region, solar drives sustainable economic growth.

Clean Energy

The Projects will provide a clean, renewable source of energy that will reduce carbon dioxide emissions and help achieve New York’s Climate Act goal of 70% renewable energy by 2030. It will also provide improvements to the electric grid, generate tax revenue for the town, county and school district, and create new construction jobs.

About Us

RIC Energy is a global company specializing in the development of photovoltaic projects, with experience in construction, operation and maintenance, and financial structuring. Founded in 2005 in Spain, we are pioneers in the photovoltaic solar market. RIC Development, LLC, a subsidiary of RIC Energy, is a leading renewable energy developer of solar PV farms in the United States with a focus on the local community. We pride ourselves on identifying key stakeholders early in the development process and working together with them to create high-value projects with the lowest impact to the surrounding landscape and community.

We do this by forging partnerships in the communities where we work to make the process of integrating clean sources of locally produced energy into the environment a benefit to everyone involved. Whether working with landowners, utilities, or town officials, we are continually striving to achieve the dual goals of economic and ecological sustainability. Together, with leading environmental and engineering experts, our projects are designed to reduce environmental impacts to the maximum extent possible, as well as to improve and maintain soil health.
